Located on Marambaia beach in Aquiraz, around 25 km from Fortaleza, Aquiraz Riviera will be the largest international standard tourism development in Brazil, with an estimated total value of US$ 350 million.

The project is developed by the Portuguese-Brazilian Consortium, Aquiraz Investimentos SA, constituted by the Ceará State businessman, Ivens Dias Branco, and by the Portuguese Ceará Investment Fund – Fundo Turístico Imobiliário, Grupo Hoteleiro Dom Pedro and Solverde (a tourism division of Industrial Violas group with the concession of Cassinos do Algarve).

With a total area of 285 hectares, being 1,800 meters in front of the sea and a hotel area divided in eight lots of four hectares in the first class of the beach, Aquiraz Riviera will have a 58-hectare Environmental Protection Area for the local fauna and flora protection.

The Dom Pedro Laguna Hotel construction determines the start of Aquiraz Riviera’s first stage, forecasted to be completed in 2009.

In addition to the hotel it also comprehends the installation of total infrastructure – with raw water, treated water and sewage networks, irrigation systems, power and telecommunications network; and the construction of an 18-hole golf course and a Club House.

Furthermore, six multi-family areas will be installed totalizing 400 apartments and the Village Mall.

The development’s second stage, with conclusion forecasted for the end of 2010, includes the construction of villas, six multi-family areas and the installation of two international standard hotels.

The third and last stage has the conclusion forecasted for the end of 2011 with Aquiraz Riviera and all of its installations in full operation.
Aquiraz Riviera will project several centers for the practice of sports highlighting the golf course with 18 holes - par 72 and displayed through 7,131 yards, but still with a tennis center and an equestrian center.

It covers almost half (47.3%) of South America's territory, totaling an area equivalent to 8,547,403 square kilometers.

Brazil's east-west territorial extension (4,319.4 km) is almost equivalent to its widest north-south distance (4,397.7 km). Ecuador and Chile are the only two countries of South America with which Brazil makes no frontiers.

Language
Portuguese is the mother language, although very different from that spoken in Portugal and other ancient Portuguese colonies. Some people state that currently Brazilians speak “Brazilish”, with a pretty different accent and intonation. A comparison can be made with the English spoken by American and English people: each one has its own regional characteristics. Many Brazilians also speak German and Italian, especially in southern cities, thanks to the influence of colonization.
Culture
Few places in the world provide the same welcoming atmosphere to newcomers like Brazil. Over the initial miscegenation basis, a slavery society was then built, which never succeeded in eliminating an already traditional custom and that could be evidenced in the offsprings from white and black people, black and Indians, mulattos and white people, white people and Indians. At Independence time, these people had developed an identity in such a vigorous manner that neither divisions nor internal political disputes could be seen over the country's territory. On the contrary, the nation was formed based on arrangements that for European eyes – and even for Brazilian ones – often seemed to be absurd, but which, up to these days, still work on an unusual way.

International arrivals increase in May
July 05 2006 – The number of passengers disembarking in Brazil from international flights grew by 3.71% in May compared to the same month in 2005. Infraero information shows that in spite of the crisis in Varig airlines which led to the canceling of some overseas flights, the country continues to be an attractive destination for foreigners.
In the month of May, 508,608 passengers arrived in Brazil on international flights. The accumulated amount for the year so far is almost 2.9 million which is an increase of 1.71% in relation to the result obtained last year.
Figures obtained by the Central Bank show a further increase in the influx of dollars with the foreign tourists. In May of this year, these visitors left 342 million US dollars in the country, an amount 17% higher than in the same month in 2005. The accumulated result for the year so far is already 1.9 billion US dollars, an amount superior to the annual total for any year before 2002.
